Staff Positions

Program Manager

Carnegie Europe, the European policy research center of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, is seeking a full-time Program Manager to work in its Brussels office.

The Program Manager will join Carnegie’s research team working on global democracy issues. Duties will include organizing meetings and outreach of Carnegie’s Civic Research Network, arranging public and private experts meeting in Brussels and other European capitals, providing substantial research assistance to senior researcher leads, and contributing organizational and analytic inputs to Carnegie’s global democracy team.

The ideal candidate will a combine a high level of organizational skill and energy with top-notch analytic skills and academic performance. Master’s degree, and two to four years of relevant working experience. The position requires fluency in English and ideally one other major European language, flexibility, time management and the ability to work well independently and as part of a team.

Located in Brussels we offer a competitive benefits package and salary commensurate with experience. This position will start as soon as possible.

Internship Positions

Carnegie Europe offers academic internships to support the center’s activities in research, communications, and organizational development. Interns are an integral part of Carnegie’s growing global network, which includes offices in Beijing, Beirut, Brussels, Moscow, New Delhi, the Silicon Valley, and Washington.

Internships are unpaid. Applicants are encouraged to check with their academic institutions for information about available sources of internship credit or sponsorship. Carnegie Europe is not able to provide information on possible external sources of funding or assistance for visa-related matters.

The academic internship program is competitive. Applications will be judged on eligibility, past academic performance, relevant academic study, and work experience. Interviews may be conducted.

General requirements

Candidates must:

  • be enrolled in a university or have been graduated within one year of internship start date;

  • Research Intern - European Democracy

    Carnegie Europe is seeking a research intern to work for three to six months in Brussels or remotely. The intern will provide overall support to Carnegie Europe's teams and scholars, who are responsible for Carnegie Europe's research and project activities.

    Responsibilities will include assisting with research on European democracy issues. Successful candidates will conduct background research to support the work of Carnegie Europe scholars and program staff, including drafting issue monitors, research briefs, and event reports.

    The ideal candidate will have an interest in European democracy issues, as well as some previous research and study experiences in this field.

    Given current circumstances, it may be necessary to limit the staff and interns presence in the office or to opt for a remote internship. Please notice that, for this reason, we may give preference to candidates already based in Brussels.   • Communications Intern

    Carnegie Europe is seeking a communications intern to work for three to six months in Brussels or remotely.The intern will provide overall support to the communications team, which is responsible for Carnegie Europe's website management, social media outreach, media monitoring and press relations, public and private event organization, publication production and promotion, and database management.

    Responsibilities will include assisting with marketing research projects; supporting media monitoring and outreach efforts; contributing to the promotion of Carnegie publications; helping maintain and develop the center's contacts database; and providing organizational and logistical support for a variety of public and private events.

    The ideal candidate will have an interest in EU foreign policy and the European media landscape, as well as excellent command of the English language. Knowledge of and experience with social media platforms, photo and video editing, and HTML is desired.
